Right Angle Heli-Worm reduction gear motor design recommended to satify customer requirement of higher reduction ratios in a compacter assembly.

Heli-worm Gear motors are available in Hollow Output Shaft & Solid Output Shaft designs, both with foot mounting and flange mounting considerations.

They are available in 2-1/8 inch center, 3-inch center, 3-1/2 inch and 5 inch center designs.

Ratios range from 73:1 upto 200:1 in single casting models. Ratios upto 3600:1 can be achieved using combination gear boxes.

Output torque range from 175 N.Mt. upto 1450 N.Mt. Motors froms 0.16 HP/0.13 KW upto 2.0 HP. can be used with existing models.

Speed reduction for higher ratios is achieved in two stages of reduction. First stage reduction is achieved using helical gears and second stage comprises of a worm shaft and a worm wheel assembly.

Helical gears and worm shafts are manufactured from case hardening alloy steel. The worm wheel is centrifugally cast using a phosphor bronze alloy and securely mounted on acas iron hub.

The helical gears are lapped and the worm shafts are profile ground to ensure minimum backlash, noise, low heat and efficient power transmission.

Entire gear assembly runs in an oil bath also ensuring splash lubrication to all bearings situated in the gear casing. Proper oil level should be maintained using level indicators and oil plugs provided.

Output shafts are manufactured from medium carbon steel, finished to the stipulated tolerances. Custom requirements of output shaft are arrived at based upon output torque/load and safety considerations.

The gear casing is of close-grained casting. It Comprises of a housing body, motor mounting adapter (available only for gear boxes not for gear motors), a hollow output flange and and a blind/hollow flange. Ample size of the gear case takes care of heat dissipation and houses the bearings and gears for longer life. These gear case components are machined with particular regard to center distances of the bores and matching surfaces to eliminate problems of overheating and leakage.

To ensure leakproof assemblies, oil seals at both ends, input and output, are used to render the utility of gear motors in chemical, pharmaceutical, and food packaging / processing environments where no contamination is allowed.

All components are machined to close tolerances and inspection is carried out by experienced personnel at all stages of manufacturing and assembly.
